Elected to a 4 year term as Jefferson Township Trustee 2005

I proudly participate in township government because I consider serving as Trustee a very high honor.  Out township board may be grassroots government, but how well it functions has far-reaching effects on our community.  I never fail to seriously consider how any official acts may impact township citizens.  I strive to be a courteous, effective servant to anyone in Jefferson Township who may ask for my help.

Having a fiscally responsible trustee on the board is critical for Jefferson Township.  Elected officials should be mindful of current economic conditions when making any financial decisions.  Currently, Jefferson Township has no outstanding debt.  The record will reflect Jefferson Township has perpetually had funds carry over at year’s end.  With planning and foresight out board has met Jefferson Township’s needs without trotting out levy after levy.

Co-op purchasing, purchasing goods and services in our community whenever possible, and “in-house” repairs of equipment are some of the ways we have offset the reduction of several Jefferson Township funds.  I believe living within our means is always a good policy.  This is clearly reflected in Jefferson Township’s financial records.

It is an honor for me to serve Jefferson Township as Trustee.  Since being appointed as Trustee in 2002, it has been an experience that I am still enjoying.  I hope to remain involved in continuing the good work our present and past trustees and fiscal officers have done for us all.

I have a sincere willingness to serve Jefferson Township.  Our roads have never been safer or looked any better.  I have supported upgrades of equipment and capital improvements when it has been appropriate.  I am fair, honest and have willingly expended whatever time has been needed to fulfill my obligations.  I don’t feel my township duties are on hold during my workday or weekends.  In the past, many difficult problems have required decisive action, which was taken, and the township benefited greatly because of it.  I have discharged my duties to the best of my ability, and feel my efforts have had a positive effect on our board and our township.  I have appreciated all of the support I have received in the past.  I am respectfully asking for your vote on November 3.
