Hello, My name is Mike Switzer, I am an incumbent Monroe Township Trustee and have been Chairman since 2008. I am currently serving my first term and running for re-election on the November 3, 2009 general election ballot. I am a 1987 graduate of Lucas High School and have been a lifelong resident of Monroe Township. I am currently employed full time as the assistant road superintendent for the Mifflin Twp Road Department. My wife, Deb and I have been married for 15 years.  I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Monroe Township and I am proud of our accomplishments in recent years. We have established a working relationship with the Village of Lucas and are currently trading the use of equipment in an effort to save money for the taxpayers from both entities. We have voted not to collect EMS levy monies for 2009-2010 as our EMS fund is adequate for next calendar year. We felt in these tough economic times our residents could use some tax relief.  In the last four years we have been able to replace 2 road department dump trucks and 2 fire trucks and have not had to ask for a levy or withdraw money from our investments to accomplish this. We have put several policies in place to remain fiscally responsible. We have enacted a drug free workplace program to save on workers compensation. Our road department is now maintaining all of our own cemeteries in an effort to cut down on outside contractor fees. We have applied for over 1 Million dollars in grant, stimulus, and FEMA money.  I have been responsible all or in part for bringing close to $100,000.00 in grant monies and FEMA reimbursements to Monroe Township, which we have used for pipe replacement, paving, chip & seal, guardrail and Fire/EMS services. We have also established a website for our residents to stay updated on Township news.  The website is: www.monroetwplucas.org. I would like to thank WMFD and once again I sincerely  thank you, Monroe Township residents, for the chance to serve you and would greatly appreciate your support on November 3.

                                                                                        Thank You,

                                                                                         Mike Switzer
