Twenty-five people experienced what it's like to live with a physical or mental disability Thursday.

The members of the current Mansfield-Richland Area Educational Foundation's Leadership Unlimited class participated in Richland Newhope's 12th annual Community Awareness Day.

Some used a wheelchair, a walker, a brace, or goggles that impair vision.

Newhope Community Relations Director Jane Imbody says the purpose of this event is to teach able-bodied people about the challenges people with disabilities face, and how they can overcomes those challenges.

Larry Stimpert, maintenance superintendent at Ohio State-Mansfield, was among the participants.

His left arm was in a brace, making only his right arm functiional for various tasks.

Community Awareness Day is the last of three major events during March, which is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, under the theme "Look Beyond".
