The District Five Area Agency on Aging sets aside money each year to help college students pursue careers of working with senior citizens. Krystal Hamilton, Executive Assistant to CEO Duana Patton, says grant and scholarship money is available to people already working in or planning on a career in social work, nursing, pharmacy, or speech, physical, or occupational therapy. Six $1000 grants are being offered for higher education or enhancement of skills, and one $2500 scholarship is available for a student of at least sophomore status in an accredited technical school, college, or university for the 2013-2014 academic year. Applications are available at the Agency on Aging at 780 Park Avenue West in Mansfield, or on-line at www.aaa5ohio.org. They are due by April first. The District 5 Area Agency on Aging serves nine counties; Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Richland, Marion, Morrow, Knox, Seneca, and Wyandot. |
