Tourism in Richland County had a record year in 2013, supporting nearly 4000 jobs with a $70-million payroll, and generating spending of $284-million and $7.6- million in tax revenue.

The accomplishments of the county's fourth largest employer were highlighted today during the Mansfield-Richland County Convention and Visitors Bureau's annual meeting.

President Lee Tasseff says they include the first Tough Mudder competition, which returns this year, and the 20th anniversary reunion of the filming of the blockbuster movie, "Shawshank Redemption" The CVB has two new ways of promoting the area.

One is an updated map of the 18-mile Richland B & O Bike Trail that runs from Butler to North Lake Park in Mansfield.

The other is access to its website from mobile devices. Four new members were inducted into the Tourism Hall of Fame including Teri Meyers Designs, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the Mansfield Art Center, and Bill and April Mullen and Bob Watchman for their role in the Shawshank Trail and reunion.
