Ashland county is always pleased to commemorate those who go above and beyond, offering support to those in times when they need it most, and those with exceptional determination.

The Ashland American Legion was home to this year's Victims of Crime Service Awards Banquet. An event held since 1997 by the Ashland County Prosecutor's Office to recognize the dedication of those individuals who serve victims of crime.

Two types of awards were presented at the event.
The first being the Special Courage Award which was granted to honor those civilians, witnesses or victims, who have exhibited exceptional perseverance or determination.
The second was the Distinguished Service Award given to commend an Ashland County service provider who has demonstrated exceptional service and support to victims of crime.

Winners of the Special Courage Award:
Ms. Sherri Maneese and Ms. Linda Plice
Nominated by Ashland Co. Prosecutor's Office

Mr. Donald Thompson
Nominated by Judge John Good, Municipal Court.

Winner of the Distinguished Service Provider Award:

Ms. Melissa Trukovich
Nominated by Mr. Rick Wolfe II, City Law Director.

These awards were given to praise these proud citizens, citizens who think what they do is simple and ordinary but is in fact commendable and extraordinary.
