Winter is gone, Spring came and went, now its Summer where the real challenge for most people is how to beat the heat. There may also be some concerned canine owners out there worried about their beloved pets.

Richland county's Tara Harter, owner of Zoom-N-Groom, kindly gave us some tips on some of the do's and don't of dog grooming in the summer.

While it may seem like a good idea to rid a dog of its coat of fur, dogs use their coats as natural weather control and do not benefit from being completely shaved down. This can actually cause discomfort and lead to skin problems since a dog's skin is not meant to be exposed to that level of sun.

Brushing or combing your dog will help remove thick winter undercoat which will also prevent excess shedding.

Zoom-N-Groom services include baths, nails, haircuts, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing.

For any more information about pet grooming be sure to contact Zoom-N-Groom, the grooming salon on wheels!
