25 girls, their families, friends and supporters are here in Mansfield for a very special event. Miss Ohio week is underway here at the Renaissance in downtown Mansfield.

Girls from cities around Ohio have been practicing, perfecting and polishing their techniques while squeezing in time for parades, appearances and more here in town.

So, we wanted to take you for a behind the scenes look, to see what goes into the week long extravaganza that is Miss Ohio Week. It takes at least 30 volunteers to set up the stage, help behind the curtain during shows, and make sure lights and sound work. Terri Herlihy, Stage Manager for the Pageant has learned to expect the unexpected in her 36 years working behind the scenes.

The girls were prepping for preliminary performances Wednesday night at the theater. They took a moment to talk with us about the preparations for a show like this. Chaperone's Monica Hubbard and Julie Sliney have opened their homes for years to girls for years during pageant week.

Gloria Buwala, President of Miss Ohio is another woman who's helped these young ladies become great women. She says the best part of her job is seeing a girl who was once shy, become a confident, strong woman.

The week wraps up with The Miss Ohio Pageant, where Miss Ohio 2014 will be crowned at the Renaissance Theater. Her first appearance will be this Sunday at the Richland Mall. For more information, visit MissOhio.org
