The Ohio Department of Transportation will completely restructure the interchange at US 42, State Route 96 and US 250 in Ashland next summer.

The 60-year-old bridge on US 42 will be removed and a signalized intersection will be created in its place at SR 96/US 250. In addition, each road at the intersection will be widened to provide additional through and turning lanes.

The project will begin next May and is expected to correct traffic problems in the area, which include a high number of accidents.

Area residents got their first look at the $9-million improvement project at a public meeting Thursday night, and had an opportunity to visit with members of the ODOT project team.
