A new statue of Loudonville local legend Charles F. Kettering was displayed to the public alongside Kettering's historical marker.

Born in Loudonville in 1876, Charles Franklin Kettering would become an inventor early on in his life. Just out of school, Kettering took a job at National Cash Register (Now NCR Corporation), where he invented the electric cash register and the precursor to today's modern credit card. Other notable inventions of Kettering's include the all-electric starting, ignition, and lighting system for automobiles, which are still used today in modern cars. His ideas and contributions to several other projects helped develop aerial missiles, diesel engines, leaded gasoline, solar energy, and the application of magnetism in medical diagnostics.

Several speakers, including Loudonville superintendent John Miller, went over Kettering's impressive accomplishments and history during the presentation, and the statue's artist was applauded for his effort to capture Kettering's image. Several Kettering family relatives were present for the ceremony and were given mention as well.
