A semi accident Wednesday on Interstate 71 just south of U.S. 250 closed two lanes of traffic.

Sgt. Andrew Topp with the Ashland post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the accident occurred around 4 a.m.

"The commercial tractor- trailer hauling two steel coils was southbound on I-71 near the 186 mile marker post just south of U.S. 250 in Ashland County when it traveled off the roadway a struck the median cables," Topp said.

"As the truck overturned both steel coils came off the trailer," Topp said.

A crane from Abe'rs Towing removed the large coils from the road. Topp said the semi will be inspected to ensure it was operating properly at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
