A beautiful bride, a handsome groom and an elegant wedding party was the picture perfect setting for a Tom Thumb Wedding held Sunday afternoon at Kingwood Center.

The event was hosted by The Cookies and Milk Project . Project co-founders Theresa Williams and Deborah Holt, came up with the idea to host the celebration which is about the Victorian-era marriage of P.T. Barnum Circus performers Tom and Livinia Thumb.

Boys and girls ages 1 to 15 participated in the wedding. Holt said the organization has been planning the wedding for three months with one main goal in mind.

"We want to the young girls and boys to think about the importance of marriage. We want them to know that they can succeed in life," Holt said.

The Cookies and Milk Project was created in honor of Teresa Williams late daughter Candice, who was killed in an automobile accident in 2003. The project empowers girls to follow their dreams and make positive lifestyle choices.

The project consists of two groups, ages 5 to 9 and ages 10 to 18. The group meets several times a month.

Holt said during the meetings they discuss the girls plans for the future, do arts, crafts and sewing. She said the young ladies are already planning their next big event a field trip to Kalahari waterpark in Sandusky.
