| The Madison Township Trustees have decided to make the fire chief's position part-time. The trustees announced the decision at their special meeting Monday night. The trustees have to appoint a new fire chief after accepting the resignation of Chris Niswander in February. Niswander resigned officially March 15. Trustees chairman Dan Fletcher said the decision was made in an effort to save the township money. Over the past year, the Madison Township Fire Department has implemented a number of budget and personnel cuts. The cuts included the layoff of the deputy chief and the reduction of hours for part-time firefighters. Fletcher said anyone interested in applying for the position is invited to attend a special meeting on March 25. | ||||||
