Campus In Mourning After Accident Where One AU Student Died

An Ashland University student passed away Saturday at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland from injuries he received in a two-vehicle accident Friday night in Wellington.

A news released issued by Ashland University says Andrew Keim died in the accident. Keim was a passenger in a car driven by Madelyn Humphrey, 21, who failed to stop at a stop sign on Quarry Road and struck a pickup truck driven by Mark Zacharias, 56, of Wellington.

Zacharias and his wife, Elizabeth, 55, were flown by medical helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center after being taken to Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin.

Humphrey, also an AU student, is listed in good condition. The two other passengers, also AU students, Paige Gorsuch,21, and Rosalie Sepesy, 21, also were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center where they are listed in fair condition.

The accident remains under investigation. A prayer service for the four AU students was held Saturday night in the AU chapel.
