Lexington school district voters approved an eight-mill, 10-year renewal levy at the polls Tuesday, with 72 percentof the vote.

Supt. Mike Ziegelhofer says this is not a tax increase, but is still revenue the district needs to maintain programs and staffing.

The Lexington schools renewal levy generates $2.7-million a year. 81 percent of Plymouth Township voters said "yes" to the fire levy, while Troy township voters approved a cemetery levy with 75 percent of the vote.

And the Franklin Township current expenses levy failed with 63 percent of the vote.
