You can have your pets vaccinated against rabies, free of charge, this Saturday from noon to two at the Premier Office Complex at 1456 Park Avenue West in Mansfield.

This is a service offered by local veterinarians, Doctors Henry and Jody Akers and Laurie Hickox, to prevent pets from getting rabies should they be bitten by a rabid wild animal.

The rabies clinic is supported and endorsed by Richland Public Health. No pets in Richland County have contracted rabies for years.

Dr. Jody Akers hopes these clinics are preventing the disease, which would require the pet to be put to sleep.
