It was an exciting event for hundreds of people Friday evening at North Central State College, as the school hosted its 2014 Commencement Ceremony for this years crop of graduates.

Two-hundred-fifty- three students made the walk from Ovalwood Hall to the Campus Recreation Center to receive their diplomas in front of a packed-house, as faculty, family and friends cheered for their accomplishments. Many students were sharing their plans for life after graduation, while others were more concerned with simply making it across the stage without tripping during the ceremony.

In total, NC State had 368 students graduate this school year, with many receiving special honors for their efforts.

Dulcy Wagner received distinguished recognition, named Outstanding Student of the Year for her efforts in the RN nursing program.

Kim Washington was named Outstanding Staff Member of the Year, while Brad Wood received Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year and delivered the commencement speech.
