The four Mansfield police officers who have died in the line of duty in the city's history were recognized Monday.

A ceremony was held at the memorial on the second floor of city hall honoring John Englehart Jr., William Taylor, Michael Hutchison, and Brian Evans.

Police keep their fallen comrades in mind as they patrol the streets and confront dangerous criminals. The Mansfield police memorial was guarded for the rest of the day by two officers standing at attention, with a changing of the guard every fifteen minutes.

American flags will be lowered to half-staff at government buildings for Police Officers Memorial Day this Friday, and residents and businesses are asked to lower their flags. This is National Police Week.
