Mansfield police officers and firefighters have a new contract, following approval from city council Tuesday night.

The three-year deal gives both unions one-percent raises in each of three years, retroactive to last year when the previous contracts expired.

The firefighters' contract eliminates the long-standing minimum manning clause, as ordered by a conciliator who settled the issue after talks reached an impasse.

The city's goal is to hire enough new firefighters to maintain eighteen per shift, which is what minimum manning called for.
