Barbara Shifflet loves animals. She grew up around them and always treated them like family. But last month she lost a family member, 12 year old Sugar was found bloody and beaten to death in her home.

According to an incident report from the Richland County Sheriff's Department, someone entered Barbara's home on the night of April 4th while she was away. When she returned home, she noticed a few things out of place. Nothing was stolen, but she couldn't find her dog, Sugar. That's when she noticed a puddle of blood leading down the hallway and into the back bedroom.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department has investigated the crime, but the case has turned cold. The family took the investigation into their own hands, but still needs help. They've canvassed the area, but hopes someone who knows something will come forward. The process to pursue this investigation will involve hefty legal fees, pricey DNA testing, and reward money.

If you'd like to help, or have any information, call their tip line at 419-512-9549 and visit petcaring.com/ justice for Sugar.
