Shelby has a new welcome sign at the city's entrance on Ohio 39 North. The "Shelby Welcomes You" sign was made possible with donations from the Richland County and Shelby Foundations and the Richland Community Development Group. It sits at the corner of the M-T-D property, and was made by several Shelby companies. Lantz Star Graphics designed and Cooper Enterprises made the sign, with ArchelorMittal donating the posts and adornments. The sign's placement was chosen because it's the heaviest traveled entrance to Shelby. The sign is the third phase of a gateway project funded with a grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation. It started three years ago with landscaping and trees being planted along Ohio 39, then with banners being placed on light poles.
