The Richland County Republican Party elected new leaders during its biennial reorganization meeting Tuesday evening.

The members of the Richland GOP central committee, who were elected in the May 6 Primary Election, elected its party leaders for the next two years.

Mike Casto was re-elected to his second term as party chairman and the Executive Committee Chairman. Robert Rodgers was elected to his first term as Central Committee Chairman. Maureen Collins was elected to her first term as vice chairperson of the Central Committee and Bill Freytag was re-elected vice chair of the Executive Committee. Karen Browning was re-elected Treasurer and Dan Hardwick was elected secretary of both committees.

Casto said “My primary focus will be to increase voter turnout by members of our party, and to give the non-declared voters in our county, as well as conservative leaning democrats, a reason to vote for Republican candidates. There are many state-wide races that our members will be working for this fall as well as our judicial candidate Judge Brent Robinson and State Representative Mark Romanchuk.”

Casto currently serves as Chairman of the Richland County Board of Elections and works for the Juvenile Court as Court Administrator.

Robert Rodgers is new to Richland County Party leadership but is no stranger to political involvement. He was active with a charter change in his former community of Fairview Park and worked to elect good candidates to city council and the school board.

He has been a Captain paramedic firefighter and since moving to Richland County raises alpacas on his farm in Butler Township. Rodgers stated that his vision is to improve outreach to our residents and communicate concerns back to our elected officials, as well as working within the Party to build effective teams to educate the public on the issues.
