If you're looking for fresh, local produce, you won't have to travel far.WMFD'S Lauren Artino and Brian Skowronski headed to a local farm to find a sweet deal.

The start of summer is around the corner, but strawberry season is in full swing at Rocky Acre's Strawberry Farm in Bellville. Owner and operator, Bob Layfield says business has been booming. Bob and his wife, Mary live near the Hickerson's who ran a strawberry picking farm in Bellville for many years. After Mr. Hickerson passed away, his wife decided it would be best to close.

A gardener himself, Bob decided to give strawberries a try. He started small, planting an acre of strawberry plants. More than 5,600 plants and five different types which will produce berries through the end of this month. Bob says if you want sweet, summer strawberries, the time to buy is now.

Truly a local, family owned business, Rocky Acre's Strawberry farm is located at 1408 Poorman Road in Bellville. For more information, call the Layfield's at 419-886-4860.
