The Richland County Foundation has awarded more than $433,000 in scholarships to local college students.

RCF Scholarship Committee Chairman Michael Chambers announced during a recent Board of Trustees meeting that 417 scholarships were awarded to 140 freshmen, 100 sophomores, 78 juniors and 99 seniors attending accredited two-year or four-year colleges or universities. Of those receiving awards, 372 students are enrolled in an Ohio school and 45 students will attend an out-of-state school.

The scholarships are based on a student’s financial need. A scholarship fund can be created with a minimum investment of $20,000. Applications for the 2015-2016 year will be available in January 2015 with an application deadline of April 1, 2015.
