Mosquito breeding season is in full swing, with temperatures heating-up and thunderstorms with heavy rainfalls popping- up. So Richland Public Health is getting into its annual mosquito spraying program, targeting areas of the county reporting large mosquito populations. Environmental Health Director Matt Work says the spraying does well at killing mosquitoes, but residents must do their part by not allowing water to stand in rain gutters, old tires, containers, and low-lying areas. Mosquitoes carry viruses that can make you sick. Mosquito spraying continues until the first frost of fall, usually in October. For weekly listings of locations go to www.richlandhealth.org.
