The Jackson post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-engine plane crash on Christmas Eve near the Vinton County Airport that killed a Mansfield woman, her son and a friend. According to the patrol, Eudora Byers, 78, of Mansfield, and Siobhan Reynolds, 50, of New Mexico, were killed instantly Saturday afternoon. The pilot, Kevin Byers, 54, of Baltimore, Ohio, died Sunday shortly after 4 a.m. at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. The crash occurred around 1:50 p.m. Vinton County coroner's investigator Steve Huston said the plane apparently was approaching the runway but ended up along a road parallel to the Vinton County Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration is assisting the patrol with the investigation. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Kevin Byers was a lawyer and had a law office in the downtown area. He specialized in medical and health-care-related issues. |
