An instructor at Pioneer Career and Technology Center in Shelby is recuperating after being injured when a steer tossed him into the air during a class last Thursday.

Pioneer Meat Processing Instructor Bill Kucic is listed in fair condition at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Kucic was injured when the steer became spooked as Kucic was attempting to lead him into a stall for slaughter.

Students in the class closed the gate to contain the steer and others called 9-1-1.

Kucic was attended to by the school nurse and taken to MedCentral Shelby Hospital before being transferred to Grant Medical Center.
