The Warriors finished up their non-league schedule a dissappointing 1-2, but are off to a 1-0 start in the conference after last Friday's 47-25 win at Bucyrus. Ontario will look to remain unbeaten in NCC play this Friday night when they host the 2-2 Upper Sandusky Rams. The general consensus amungst Ontario players and coaches is that practice has picked up over the last couple of weeks, following the Warriors embarrassing 34-14 loss to Shelby in their home opener. Senior lineman Dylan Richards says that things tend to work out better in games after a good week of practice. "Up front we definitely did a better job," Richards says of last weeks game against Bucyrus compared to the Shelby contest. "We just executed a lot better, we had a better week of practice and that definitely helped out a lot." Aside from a solid week of preperation on the field, senior lineman John Goodwin also thought his Warriors were more prepared mentally when they faced the Redmen. "The coaches put a lot of emphasis on studying scouting reports to know what's coming," Goodwin says. "I think we just did a better job studying and knew what would happen in the game." Ontario head coach Scott Kreger says he knows what to expect on Friday with Upper Sandusky coming to Copeland Field and his Warriors better be ready to play until the final whistle. "They play physically tough for 48 minutes. They're a good team," Kreger says. "The Pritchard kid at quarterback is a real good athlete, he does a great job for them. We've got to key on him and do a good job trying to contain him, but again, it goes to the battle up front." Like Ontario, the Rams are also 2-2, but sit at 0-1 in the conference after Galion shut them out 28-0 last Friday. Upper Sandusky has struggled to move the ball offensively, racking up just 285 yards per game, but the quarterback Kreger alluded to has been a handful for opposing defenses so far this season. Junior Tylor Pritchard is the Rams leading passer and rusher, racking for nearly 500 yards through the air and 324 yards on the ground with 9 total touchdowns. He has accounted for 71% of the teams total offense, allowing opposing defenses to key on him. The Warriors also have a dynamic talent in Jordan Campbell who leads the conference with 790 rushing yards and 14 total scores, but accounts for just over 50% of Ontario's offensive production. Despite the standouts from each squad, Ontario players and coaches agreed that Friday's game will be decided for the most part at the line of scrimmage. We will find out when they teams collide at Copeland Field for a 7:00 pm kickoff, with live audio streamed over the Web at WMFD.com and replayed on WOHZ TV Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 pm.
