A man wanted by the Mansfield Police Department for rape, kidnapping and felonious assault has been captured.

Shane Woods was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force at a residence on Wrangling Run Road in Augusta, Kentucky.

Woods was taken to the Mason County Detention Center and is awaiting extradition back to Mansfield to face charges.

Back in July, Woods is alleged to have struck a female victim several times with his vehicle on Park Avenue West in Mansfield and then kidnapped and assaulted her.

Woods then fled Mansfield and an investigation ensued with Mansfield Police and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force to track him down.

An investigation led officers to Augusta where U.S. Marshals from the Fugitive Task Force in Lexington, Kentucky located Woods and arrested him without incident.

Anyone with information concerning any wanted fugitive can contact Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-4Wanted (1-866-492-6833).
