After an 18-14 loss to Upper Sandusky last Friday, Ontario finds itself at an unexpected 2-3 after five weeks. If the season is to get turned around, Ontario coach Scott Kreger says every player must do their job on every single play. The Warriors will need that attitude this week when they play host to the 5-0 Wynford Royals who are riding a 63 game regular season winning streak. Although they have a new coach in Gabe Helbert, Kreger says Helbert is doing many of the same things coach Moyer did when he coached under him for severall seasons. Col.Crawford may have the NCC's number one offense, but Wynford sports the NCC's top defense giving up just 27 points in five games with three straight shutouts. The Royals will have to slow down the conferences number two rusher in Jordan Campbell who has run for 850 yards through five games on 103 carries. Quarterback Tyler Boatwright has chimed in with 316 yards on 41 carries. The two have combined for 14 touchdowns. Wynford's offense is ranked second in the NCC with an average of 374 yards a contest with Wynford quarterback Brock Williamson throwing for 702 yards and ten touchdowns, no interceptions on 37 of 65 passing. Royals running back Corey Brown has been able to handle the bulk of Wynford's ground game with 525 yards on 61 carries with four TD's. Wynford stopped Ontario in a battle of undefeated teams a year ago in week six 33-7. Ontario has not defeated the Royals since 2004, 26-7, when Wynford was in a four game slide that season. It was also the last time the Warriors won the conference championship. Since then the NCC in football has been the property of Wynford. |
