After four weeks of the new football season Ashland University is off to a 4-0 start overall and 3-0 start in the GLIAC.  You would think head coach Lee Owens would be happy and he is, kinda.  Owens says the team must get better running the football on first down, do a better job of not giving up the big play on defense and do a better job of returning kicks.

The Eagles have averaged 150 yards a game on the ground through the first four weeks which comes out to about 3.5 yards a carry.  Where the team has been moving the sticks has been through the air off the arm of quarterback Taylor Housewright who is 83 of 121 for 1.091 yards with 11 touchdowns, no interceptions.  His favorite targets have been AnthonyCapasso and Eric Thompkins with 19 catches each and Dan Piko with 15.  The three have combined for 787 yards in receptions.

The Eagles will try to continue their winning streak to five straight when they host 0-4 Lake Erie Saturday at 7pm at Jack Miller Stadium at Fred Martinelli Field.  The Storm has shown they can score points with 31 against Wayne State, 33 against Gannon, 21 against Ferris State and 24 against Saginaw Valley.  Owens says they have a quick strike no huddle offense that comes at you out of the spread look.  AU only need look to last season when Lake Erie outscored Ashland in a 45-42 upset.  It may have been a bit of a payback from the year before when the Eagles scored points like a runaway freight train winning 87-17 in 2010.
