The Ashland University Eagles continue to care of business improving to 5-0 on the season with a 68-21 win over Lake Erie College at Jack Miller Stadium at Fred Martinelli Field.  The Eagles were impressive on offense rolling up 603 yards, 251 on the ground, 352 through the air.  Quarterback Taylor Housewright went 19 of 30 for 305 yards and four touchdowns and for the fifth straight game no interceptions.  Anthony Capasso caught six passes for 93 yards and two scores, Eric Thompkins latched on to four receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown of 53 yards.  Dan Piko and Matt Schweitzer each had three catches with Piko catching a touchdown pass from Housewright. The two combined for 87 receiving yards.  Rushing wise, runningback Jordan McCune gained 102 yards on ten carries scoring twice, with his second touchdown coming on a 56 yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Ashland defense held Lake Erie's high powered offense to 369 total yards and came up with three turnovers, one fumble and two interceptions the first by Donny Dottei, the second by Cody Bloom.  Bloom also came up with ten tackles on the evening, AU's Mike McMillan had 11.  The win by the Eagles puts them at 5-0 overall for the first time since 1991 with their GLIAC mark at 4-0.  For Eagle head coach Lee Owens it was his 100th win as a college head coach, 60 have came at Ashland University the other 40 at Akron.   Ashland will try to keep their streak going next week on the road at Ohio Dominican, kickoff is at 1pm next Saturday.
