A Richland County Jail inmate died Saturday. Corey Steven Tolar, 28, of Galion, was booked into the jail last Tuesday on charges of felony drug possession and expired license plates. Sheriff's Major Dale Fortney says Tolar was found unresponsive at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and taken to MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, where he died. Foul play is not suspected. Fortney says he's satisfied the jail staff acted appropriately by immediately calling a rescue squad when Tolar was found unresponsive. An autopsy was performed in Akron and the Richland County Coroner's Office is awaiting the results before making a ruling on the cause of death. |
