METRICH Enforcement Unit Lt. Ken Coontz says region agencies took in 634 pounds of unused or expired medication during  National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Sept. 29.

Law enforcement agencies from within Seneca County, Ashland County, Knox County, Marion County and Richland County participated in the initiative.

Richland County collected 180 lbs. of medication; Ashland County collected 108 lbs.; Knox County collected 88 lbs.; Marion County collected 186 lbs.;  and Seneca County collected 72 lbs. 
  

The confidential program is sponsored twice a year and includes a similar program conducted in  the spring.
