After back-to-back losses to West Holmes and Mansfield Senior, the Ashland Arrows stand at 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the OCC and 12th in their computer region.  But like last season, don't count the Arrows out just yet.  Last year Ashland stood at 1-4 at the midway point before winning their remaining five games winning the OCC and advancing to the playoffs.  The Arrows will have to duplicate the feat again this season for a shot at defending their OCC crown and advancing to week 11.

This week Ashland welcomes in 1-5 Orrville who is having their toughest year since 2002 when they finished at 2-8.  Ashland coach Scott Valentine expects the Red Riders to continue to do what they have done to this point and that is run their offense out of the spread formation.  Ashland will also continue to do what they have done, throw it.  Arrows quarterback Tyson Vogel far and away leads the area in passing with 1,978 yards on 121 of 222 passing with 15 touchdowns.  Arrow receiver Nick Barker continues to lead the area in reception yards with 935 on 47 catches.  Fellow receivers Carlton Buchanan and Kozmo Kruger are also among the area leaders in receptions with a combined 522 yards and four touchdowns on 41 catches.

After Friday's game against the Red Riders, Ashland has Clear Fork and Madison both on the road in weeks eight and nine with Lexington coming to Community Stadium in week ten.  The Arrows shutout Orrville a year ago on the road 14-0.
