The city of Ontario's new part-time engineer was officially introduced at the city council meeting Thursday night.

Mayor Larry Collins said Linda Timmer started her position last week. She replaces Jerrod Swinehart who resigned April 25.

Mayor Collins said Timmer is well qualified and is already working at the tasks before her with excellence.

"She has over 40 years of experience in a wide variety of fields and understands our need here. She will be working 8 a.m. to noon and we are grateful to have her," Collins said.

"Linda has worked in number of places including Guam, Florida and most recently Cleveland. She originally started in Mansfield. Her father, Don Timmer, was a part of Richland Engineering," Collins said.

In other business, council hired Poggemeyer Design Group to design and construct a new Equalization Basin for the Rock Road Lift Station.

Mayor Collins said the new basin will prevent the overflow of water. He said the project was mandated by the  Environmental Protection Agency.

Collins said the project will cost more than $1 million and will be completed before the deadline of 2016. He said the project will be paid for through grants.

Council also approved a resolution to enter an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for snow and ice removal on U.S. 30 within the city limits, ramps to and from U.S. 30 and Lexington-Springmill Road and Ohio 314 within the city limits.

Council tabled an ordinance to make additional appropriations to the 2012 General Fund for municipal building supplies.
