Bucyrus Community Hospital held an open house Thursday night to showcase the newly renovated areas of the hospital.

Visitors had the opportunity to meet the Avita Health System physicians, nurses and tour the new patient areas that included an inpatient wing of 10 private rooms for patient privacy, a pediatric office, an upgraded imaging department with a new digital mammography machine, a renovated cardio pulmonary unit and an expansion of the orthopedics and sports medicine office which includes an x-ray machine for injured patients and athletes.

Avita Health System President and CEO Jerome Morasko said new cardiac monitors will be added throughout the entire hospital.

"We keep trying to add new technology and improve the facility. Since Avita and Bucyrus Community Hospital came together, both have grown dramatically to attract more specialists. We can support different types of specialties and the two hospitals are working together to meet the needs of the community," Morasko said.

In addition to touring and the hospital, guests picked up gifts and enjoyed refreshments provided courtesy of Avita's Food and Nutritional Services.
