A Norwalk man was killed in a one-vehicle accident Sunday after his van crashed into a house on Ohio 61 in Huron County.

The Norwalk post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says Olray Jones, 72, was traveling southbound on Ohio 61 when his van ran off the left side of the road, struck a mailbox and then traveled off the right side of the road, striking a tree and a house at 776 E. Ohio 61 at 11:33 a.m.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones' wife and passenger, Renate Jones, 74, was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

Both occupants were entrapped in the vehicle and had to extricated by mechanical means.

The investigation continues into the accident.
