The Village of Lexington has selected Tony Vero, 33, to replace Jeff Price as councilman for the village.

Vero who says he's nervous but excited to hold the position.

"I've been involved in the community the past couple of years through the Blueberry Festival and more recently, the chairman of the Bicentennial Committee," Vero says. "I've been attending village council meetings for several years now. I've had an interest in potentially either running or throwing my hat in the ring, should a vacancy come open."

"There were many other good candidates and I just hope to do a good job," he says.

Vero, who works for Arcerlor Mittal in Shelby, was chosen over five other candidates. He says his goal is to grow and learn and represent the residents of Lexington with the best of his ability.

Vero will be sworn in during the next village council meeting on Monday October 15th.
