Representatives from American Municipal Power attended the Galion City Council meeting Tuesday to talk about the Prairie State Energy Campus.

They also responded to concerns residents have regarding the coal-fired plant which is providing power to the city.

A report provided by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis says Prairie State Energy Campus is not providing the promised low-cost electricity.

City Manager Gene Toy believes the representatives provided quality information to help ease the concerns of residents.

Shelby is also among more than 200 communities in eight states that have a contract with Prairie State to provide electricity to residents.

In other business, Galion City Council has applied for Ohio Public Works Commission funds to be used for street resurfacing and a major storm water project.  Toy says they should get the funds next summer, with construction on the projects starting next fall.
