The November 6 General Election is more than three weeks away and voters in Galion will be deciding on a 8-mill, 5-year levy for the Galion City School District.

The levy would generate about $1.4 million annually for the district.

Galion City Schools supt. Dr. Kathy Jenney said 6-mills will go towards expenses and 2-mills to permanent improvements.

Dr. Jenney hopes the voters will support the levy.

"It's a critical and urgent topic for us because we are at deficit balance. We have to talk to the state about a plan for fiscal watch if we don't pass the levy in November. We want to encourage voters to get informed and maked an informed decision when you vote on November 6," Dr. Jenney said.

Jenney said the levy will cost the owner of a $100,000 home about $280 a year.

In other business, the board approved a grant from the Galion Education Foundation for $20,000. The grant will fund the Elementary Spanish Enrichment Program for primary students.
