Special education teachers from across Ohio gathered Friday for a conference at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center in Mansfield. The five-hour meeting focused on the latest special education regulations, and current issues such as autism, behavior management, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, and college readiness. Presenters included nationally-known advocate Margaret Burley, who spoke about her work with the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities. The keynote speaker was Dr. Sue Zake, Director of the Office for Exceptional Children, on state and national policy priorities. This is the third year this special education conference has been held in Mansfield. Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center Education Director Tammy Webb says it serves as a follow-up to the statewide conference each September in Columbus, and is geared for teachers in northern Ohio who could not make it the capital city. |
