The ribbon was cut late Friday afternoon, dedicating and officially opening the new Ashland University Dwight Schar College of Nursing on South Trimble Road in Mansfield.

A-U President, Doctor Fred Finks was joined by numerous local dignitaries for the brief ceremony.

He says this is the culmination of a two-year dream.

And Finks says the state-of-the-art school will produce the best-trained nurses north-central Ohio has to offer.

The 50,000 square foot nursing college was built with money raised during a $15.5-million campaign entitled "Compassion, Community, Committment: Building a Healthy Tomorrow" .

Another $3-million still must be raised.
