The Ashland University Eagles ran their record to 7-0 on the season with a 30-0 shut out of the Walsh Cavaliers at Jack Miller Stadium Saturday in Ashland.  AU was very workman like all afternoon scoring on the teams first three possessions of the game enroute to a 20-0 lead at the half.  Ashland was led through the air by quarterback Taylor Housewright who was 25 out of 34 for 300 yards and two touchdowns, both to Anthony Capasso who had 11 catches for 101 yards.   The Eagles also rushed for 178 yards with Anthony Taylor and Jordan McCune running for 70 and 64 yards respectivly.

On defense, the Eagles picked up their second shut out of the season holding the Cavaliers to seven first downs and limiting Walsh to just 116 yards total, 60 on the ground and just 56 through the air.  Cody Bloom led the Eagles in tackles with nine, followed by Tyler McFarland with six, Domi-on Combs five and Don Dottei four.

The 7-0 start by Ashland U. equals their best since 1991.  Should the team win at Malone next Saturday at 7pm, it will be the first time since 1972 that the Eagles have opened a season with eight straight wins.  Ashland would finish that year at 11-0 under Hall-of-Fame coach Fred Martinelli.
