A Mansfield man has been indicted by the Richland County Grand Jury on attempted murder with a repeat violent offender specification, felonious assault, and aggravated vehicular assault charges. Rodney Simmering, 31, is accused of running over a man with his pick-up truck Sep. 1 at the Red Barn Saloon at 296 E. Fourth St. Assistant Prosecutor Bambi Couch-Page says Simmering told the victim "I hope you can run fast" as he followed him out of the bar, ran his vehicle into him, then got out and started punching him. The attack stems from the the woman who was with the victim declining a drink Simmering has bought for her. If convicted of all charges, Simmering faces up to 30 years in prison. |
