The seventh annual Make a Difference food drive began Friday, with Graham Auto Mall and Mansfield's three Kroger stores the drop-off points.

Third-grade Leadership Club students at Newman and Sherman Elementary Schools collected a combined 1928 items for Harmony House homeless shelter.

Two of the recipients of food, Harmony House Director Vickie Kane and Captain Laurence Goodman of the Mansfield Salvation Army, say their pantries are nearly bare as the holidays approach and this food drive will be a great help.

Also receiving food are the Domestic Violence Shelter, Volunteers of America, Catholic Charities, and the Butler Clearfork Nutrition Center.

The Make a Difference food drive continues Saturday from eight am to five pm.
