No one was injured when two separate accidents occurred at the same intersection around 8 a.m. Monday. The first accident happened on Ohio 39, when an eastbound vehicle collided with a westbound car that was attempting to make a left turn onto Lexington-Springmill Road. The subsequent traffic backup created a second accident, in which a vehicle westbound on 39, came around the corner to stopped traffic. According to Sergeant Jerry Botdorf with the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the driver tried to slow down, but lost control and went left of center, clipping a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. "The first accident occurred as a failure to yield the right of way at the traffic light," Sgt. Botdorf said. "The second accident occurred just as a result of traveling too fast for the condition of the roadway." |
