Mansfield police officers, firefighters and Richland County Sheriff's deputies received a special thanks Thursday from the Holiday Inn & Suites in downtown Mansfield.

The Holiday Inn hosted an “Appreciation Day” to thank the safety forces for their service to the community with a free breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet.

Holiday Inn & Suites catering sales manager Joyce Wells said the safety forces were also given a  “hotcup” so that whenever they are on duty, they can stop in and “fill up with a hot cup of coffee” anytime.

Wells said about 40 officers and fighters enjoyed the breakfast buffet that included scrambled eggs, sausage and gravy, bisquits, bacon and coffee. She said turkey bacon wraps, chips and soup were served for the lunch and dinner buffet.

Wells said the Holiday Inn looks forward to next year's Appreciation Day for the safety forces.
