A faulty toaster appears to be the cause of a house fire in Madison Township.

The home, at 2210 Park Avenue East, caught fire around 10-30 this morning.  The homeowner says she had problems with the toaster not working right.  And firefighters say flames started in the kitchen.

Mifflin Township Fire Chief Michael Klinage says his crew had the fire under control quickly.  But one firefighter was bitten by a dog right after they arrived at the home.  Everyone inside the house got out unhurt.

Klinage does suggest if you have any kind of electrical appliance that's not working right, get rid of it -- or have it checked out.  He estimates today's fire caused 20 to 25 thousand dollars in damage.
