U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, the Republican vice presidential nominee, held a victory rally Sunday in front of a cheering crowd in Mansfield businessman Rob Ridenhour's hangar at Lahm Airport. Mitt Romney's chosen runningmate said his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin is much like Mansfield, Ohio in that both have seen many job losses. Ryan also talked about the 179th Airlift Wing being located at Lahm Airport and President Obama's defense budget which called for closing the air base and not supporting its past missions in aiding troops in Afghanistan and now airing the clean-up efforts in the northeast in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio introduced Ryan at Sunday's event, saying nobody understands the challenges America faces like he does and will put forth solutions to reduce the climbing national debt and weak economy. |
